How to Use the Online Dice Tool
Simply pick your die, choose how many you want to roll and hit the button.
#1 Choose the Dice Type
Start by picking the right kind of die from the "Dice Type" menu. "D" means "die," and the number after it tells you how many sides it has. A D6 is your normal six-sided die, while a D20 is the must-have die for games like Dungeons & Dragons.
You can pick from D2, D3, D4, D6, D8, D10, D12, D20 and a D100.
#2 Choose the Number of Dice
Next, head to the "Number of Dice" menu and pick how many you want to roll (from 1 to 100). A couple of dice will do the trick for board games like Monopoly, but if you are working on something with probability, you might want a high number.
#3 Roll the Dice
Once you've picked the type and number of dice, hit the "Roll Dice" button, and you'll see your results in an instant.
#4 Reset If Needed
The "Reset" button clears your last roll so you can start fresh, and you can use it as often as you like.
Understanding the Results
When you make a roll, the tool shows you what each die landed on, so you get the full breakdown instead of one final number. Our dice roller also gives you some useful stats:
- The total of all the dice added up.
- The average value of your dice.
- How many even numbers did you roll?
- How many odd numbers did you roll?
These numbers give you a quick look at your roll without you having to do the math.
What Can You Use Virtual Dice For?

Use it to figure out who goes first in a game, get an answer for a quick math problem or let luck decide for you.
Board Games
This tool is a lifesaver for any board game night, especially if you've lost the dice or cannot find them. For most games, the good old six-sided die (D6) is all you'll need.
Tabletop RPGs
If you play tabletop RPGs like D&D or Call of Cthulhu, you know that luck is a huge part of the game. Our dice roller has all the special dice you need:
- D20
- D12
- D10
- D8
- D4
Classroom and Probability Exercises
Teachers and students can use this tool to watch probability work in real time. Roll a ton of dice and watch the patterns. Because the data shows up on the screen, it is easy to figure out sums, averages or how often even and odd numbers come up.
Simulations and Testing
Being able to roll up to 100 dice at once is helpful for running simulations. If you are practicing probability, making your own game or wanting to see how a die behaves over hundreds of rolls, this tool can come in handy.
Random Decision-Making
You can also use the dice roller to make small everyday choices without overthinking them. Let the dice decide:
- Who kicks off the charades game?
- What is for dinner tonight?
- Who wins the number-guessing game?
- Whose turn is it to wash the dishes?
Dice Types and What They Mean
Names like D4, D6 or D20 might look a little strange, but it's simple. The "D" stands for "die," and the number tells you how many sides it has.
So a D8 is a die with eight sides, and a D6 is the normal cube you are used to seeing.
The more sides a die has, the more possible results you can get. A D2 gives you two choices, while a D100 gives you a hundred.
Why Use a Online Dice Roller?
You do not have to worry about finding and storing physical dice; the results are instant, and you can roll up to 100 dice of all different types at the same time.
That makes it a great way to keep your game night going, run your RPG sessions, help out in the classroom or make a quick decision. And the stats add everything up and find the average, so you don't have to do the work yourself.
