Nunchucks online slot game
Some slots ask for permission before they walk in. Others kick the door down. Nunchucks, released by NetEnt in October 2026, is the second kind. Just imagine four nuns who know their martial arts defending their church from a gang of thugs.
Each of the four sisters brings her own move, including multiplier reels, expanding wilds, colossal symbols and re-spins, and they can even power each other up.

- Minimum bankroll: 60 EUR.

Nunchucks Theme and First Impressions

Four nuns dusting off their martial arts skills to stop a gang stealing the church's donations isn't something you see every day, not even from NetEnt, a studio that's never been afraid of a weird idea. But the theme isn't the only thing we liked. This slot comes with a soundtrack that's way better than it has any right to be.

How Nunchucks Plays: Base Game
Nunchucks runs on 6 reels and 4 rows with up to 4.096 ways to win, without paylines, cascades or clusters to worry about. To land a win, you need matching symbols on 3 or more adjacent reels starting from the left, in any position and with no gaps in between.
Symbol payouts are pretty modest, which is normal when there are thousands of ways to win. Here's what each one pays at 1 EUR per spin:
| Symbol | 6 Matches | 5 Matches | 4 Matches | 3 Matches |
|---|---|---|---|---|
![]() | 6x | – | – | – |

Bonus Features and Free Spins
Each nun triggers her own feature and the best part is that these features can mix together and get upgraded, which is where the real win potential sits.
Colossal Nun

She creates a Colossal Mystery Symbol sized anywhere from 2x2 to 4x4. When it reveals, it turns into a regular paying symbol or, if a wild reel crosses it, a Giant Wild. The bigger the block, the more ways to win open up at once.
Wild Reel Nun

She tosses a grenade onto the board and turns the reel it lands on fully wild. If more than one reel is in play, each grenade does its own job and you can end up with several wild reels at once. And if the Wild Reel Nun crosses paths with the Colossal Nun, the colossal symbol turns into a Giant Wild.
Multiplier Nun

She throws shurikens at one or more reels and gives each one a multiplier. If a win runs through multiplied reels, the values add up before they're applied to your payout. For whatever reason, she was the nun we saw the most during our test.
Upgrade Nun

The Mother Superior doesn't trigger features herself, and instead, upgrades everyone else's. When she shows up, she can grow the Colossal Mystery Symbol (up to the 4x4 max), double the multipliers or add 1-3 extra wild reels if there's room. She's the hardest nun to catch, but when she lands, wins can get serious.
Re-Spins

When a nun lands, on top of her feature she can also award a re-spin. Before it plays out, every nun on screen fires her ability and all the effects stack together.
Bonus Spins and Super Bonus Spins

Landing 3, 4, 5 or 6 Bonus symbols gets you 8, 10, 12 or 14 free spins. And if at least one of them is a Super Bonus symbol, you play Super Bonus Spins instead.
- In Bonus Spins: the nuns can trigger re-spins just like in the base game, but the features reset after every spin.
- In Super Bonus Spins: the features stick around for the whole round and keep getting better as you go.
We only hit the regular Bonus Spins once in 200 spins and it paid 88x.

Elevate (Bonus Buy)
The Elevate menu gives you these buy options:
- Bonus Hunt (3x your bet): raises the chance of triggering the special features.
- Guaranteed Nun (25x your bet): at least one nun lands on every spin.
- Bonus Spins (100x your bet): lands 3 or more Bonus symbols and triggers regular free spins, though they can still turn out to be Super.
- Super Bonus Spins (300x your bet): guarantees 3 or more Bonus symbols with a Super Bonus among them and the round starts with at least one nun.
- Super Nun Spin (500x your bet): guarantees at least one nun and heavily boosts the chance of triggering Bonus or Super Bonus Spins.
We've never been fans of bonus buys, they're too risky for our taste. Instead of paying 300x or 500x to jump straight into a feature, we'd rather spin 300 or 500 times and try to trigger the bonuses naturally.
What to Expect When Playing Nunchuks Slot

We put 200 spins through Nunchucks at 1 EUR a spin, on desktop and mobile with Chrome.
In the base game, a nun showed up every 3 to 5 spins or so, though they didn't always connect with a win. Most of the time we saw dry runs of 2 to 10 spins before a hit came along to get us back on track.
Our best single hit was 40x, when the Multiplier Nun, Upgrade Nun and Colossal Nun all teamed up.
The Bonus Spins triggered just once, on spin 122, and paid 88x. That was enough to leave us in profit: we started with 1.000 EUR and finished at 1.023,55 EUR.
Win Potential and Volatility
Nunchucks caps out at 12.000x, which is unusual for a medium volatility slot. Games in this range usually top out somewhere between 2.000x and 5.000x. That said, we think getting anywhere near that ceiling means going through the Super Bonus Spins.
The theoretical RTP sits at 96.21%, a touch above the 96% industry standard. With medium volatility, your balance isn't bleeding out on every spin, but you will see ups and downs. What protects your bankroll is when several nuns land together and combine their moves.
Mobile Performance
We played on mobile and desktop at the same time (Chrome on both, no app) and found nothing worth complaining about. The game loaded fast and the graphics looked sharp, even on a small screen. NetEnt has been the reference point for mobile-first slots for years, and it clearly hasn't lost its touch.
How Nunchucks Compares
We put this slot head to head with two of its NetEnt cousins, Arcane: Reel Chaos and What's Up Witches, both with pretty wild themes of their own.
| Slot | Provider | Volatility | Max Win | Special Features |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Nunchucks | NetEnt | Medium | 12.000x bet | Combinable nun features, chained re-spins, Bonus Spins and Super Bonus Spins with persistent features, Elevate bonus buy menu |
| Arcane: Reel Chaos | NetEnt | Medium | 774x bet | 4-level free spins to defeat the villain, features triggered by 4 heroes, stacked and overlapping wilds, multipliers and re-spins with multipliers |
| What's Up Witches | NetEnt | High | 10.180x bet | Avalanche mechanics, Arcane feature with magic books, wilds with multipliers, free spins with Magic Orb modifiers and bonus buy options |
Nunchucks plays a lot like Arcane: Reel Chaos, except the nuns boost each other while Arcane's heroes each do their own thing. Against What's Up Witches, Nunchucks has the bigger top prize, but the witches' features are more volatile and can pay more if you're willing to take on the extra risk.
Verdict: Is Nunchucks Worth Playing?
What we liked most about Nunchucks is how the nuns' features combine and upgrade each other, which can open the door to some serious payouts. What didn't convince us were the base symbol payouts, which are mostly symbolic.
We see this as a great slot for shorter sessions, since there's always something happening on screen. If you're a high-volatility player used to grinding hundreds of spins for a shot at the big one, there are better options out there.
