Tombstone Begins online slot game
Nolimit City is back in the saddle with another Wild West release. Tombstone Begins came out in May 2026 as a prequel to their popular cowboy series, and we've spent a good amount of time spinning through it.
The big new thing here is a revolver mechanic where bullets actually fly across the reels and can turn symbols wild, attach multipliers to them, or upgrade your payouts completely.

Tombstone Begins Theme and First Impressions

Nolimit City has always been good at the Wild West vibe, and Tombstone Begins keeps that going. The whole design is rough and aggressive. It basically tells you on the very first spin that nothing here comes easy. Your balance is going to fluctuate, and the game doesn't pretend otherwise. One small touch we liked is the gunshot sound that plays when you tap the screen after a win lands. That feature has returned, and it still hits right every time.

How Tombstone Begins Plays – Base Game
The grid uses five reels in a 4-5-5-5-4 setup with 22 paylines. Wins are formed by matching symbols from left to right. When a winning combination lands, those symbols lock in place and the rest of the reels respin. If a new matching symbol or a special symbol shows up during that respin, you get yet another one. It creates this chain reaction loop that really keeps your eyes on the screen.

Tombstone Begins Bonus Features
On their own, each feature makes enough sense. But when a few of them trigger at the same time, the screen gets wild pretty fast. You'll want to pay attention to locked symbols, bullet types, bonus triggers, and multipliers, because what you end up getting paid depends entirely on how all of it stacks together.
Revolver, Unleash and Refill Symbols
Revolvers show up on the reels carrying between three and six bullets, and they fire one shot per spin at either a regular symbol or a wild. What happens when a bullet lands depends on what kind it is:
- Wild: Turns the symbol it hits into a wild.

- xSplit: Doubles the multiplier on whichever symbol it strikes.

- Upgrade: Pushes the target symbol and all other identical symbols on the grid up to the next higher-paying symbol.

- xNudge Wild: Drops a stacked wild that covers an entire reel. Its multiplier goes up with each position it nudges down. This one only appears on reels 2, 3, or 4.

- xNudge Multiplier: Raises an existing xNudge multiplier, and it can go as high as x100.

- Random: The bullet randomly changes type just before impact.

There are two other symbols worth knowing about. Unleash forces every revolver currently on screen to fire all its remaining bullets in one go. Refill reloads every revolver back up to six bullets.
The xNudge Wild and xNudge Multiplier bullets are the ones you're hoping for, but during our sessions they were pretty rare in the base game. They pop up much more often once you make it into free spins.
Gunslinger Spins

Three bonus symbols on the reels triggers six free spins. The main attraction is a sticky xNudge multiplier that carries over throughout the entire round. During our testing, we pulled some decent wins from this mode, though nothing that really blew us away.
Outlaw Spins

Landing four bonus symbols awards you eight free spins. It functions similarly to Gunslinger Spins, except all revolvers come fully loaded from the start. We had some strong payouts here, mostly because the xNudge features started showing up a lot more frequently.
Widowmaker Spins

This is the top-tier round. Five special symbols give you ten spins, and the revolvers dump all their bullets before the xNudge multipliers come into play. That actually makes the whole thing easier to follow and opens the door to the game's highest possible payouts.
Nolimit Booster
You can pay extra per spin to activate certain modifiers:
- Bonus Booster (2x the bet): Guarantees a bonus symbol on the second reel.

- xNudge Showdown (30x the bet): Guarantees a revolver with two xNudge bullets and two multiplier bullets.

- xNudge Fully Loaded (190x the bet): Guarantees a spin with three xNudge bullets and three multiplier bullets.

- Revolver Mayhem (999x the bet): Fills the entire screen with six revolvers and loads the grid up with modifiers.

If you plan on using any of these, we'd point you toward the Bonus Booster. It raises your chances of getting into the free spins rounds by a noticeable amount, which is where the real wins happen. We should also mention what happened with xNudge Fully Loaded. We managed to hit a win over 4,000x our bet, and the whole thing was an adrenaline rush. That said, be careful with it, because it is extremely volatile.
Nolimit Bonus
You can also bypass everything and go straight into free spins by buying in:
- Gunslinger Spins: 70x the bet.
- Outlaw Spins: 200x the bet.

- Widowmaker Spins: 600x the bet.
- Random Option: 255x the bet.

We wouldn't suggest any of these unless you're totally comfortable putting your balance on the line.
What to Expect When Playing Tombstone Begins

If you've spent time with other Nolimit City games, this will feel familiar. You'll go through stretches where the game feels completely dead, where wins barely register and nothing seems to be happening. Then suddenly a solid chain of respins with some active revolvers kicks off and everything turns around. That's the pattern with Tombstone Begins, and it's something you really need to be okay with before you start.
Win Potential and Volatility
A max win of 20,000x is respectable, although it's lower than what some of Nolimit City's other Wild West games can deliver. On the positive side, reaching that cap feels more achievable. It's the kind of thing that could realistically happen if the xNudge bullets and multipliers all line up the right way. The 96.02% RTP is right around the industry standard, but that number won't tell you much over a 200 or 300 spin session.
What shapes your experience more than anything is the extreme volatility. Expect your balance to slowly bleed until a big respin chain with loaded revolvers pulls things back. And while Tombstone Begins is undeniably volatile, it doesn't quite reach the same level as Tombstone Slaughter.
Mobile Performance
We found that the game runs a little smoother through a casino's PWA app than through a standard mobile browser. In both cases, though, the touch controls work well and you still get that satisfying gunshot sound on wins. Visuals hold up fine on a smaller screen. That said, keeping track of what all the revolvers are doing is quite a bit easier when you have a larger display.
How Tombstone Begins Compares
Whenever a new game from this studio comes out, we like to compare it against the older entries so you can see where it sits.
| Game | Provider | Volatility | Max Win | Special Features |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Tombstone Begins | Nolimit City | Extreme | 20,000x the bet | Revolver system, xNudge and xSplit Bullets, Respins, Unleash, Refill, Free Spins |
| Tombstone Slaughter: El Gordo's Revenge | Nolimit City | Insane | 500,000x the bet | xNudge Wilds, Reel Split Wilds/xSplit, Quick Draw, Slaughter/Massacre Spins, xRIP, xBet |
| Deadwood R.I.P | Nolimit City | Extreme | 100,000x the bet | xNudge, xSplit/Reel Split Wilds, Quick Draw, Shootout, Redemption/Salvation Spins, xRIP, xBet |
Deadwood R.I.P and Tombstone Slaughter both come with huge win caps, but they'll also eat through your bankroll a lot quicker. If you like the bullet mechanic and you enjoy watching wins build up step by step, Tombstone Begins is probably the better fit. If you're chasing enormous multipliers and can handle the absolute highest level of risk, the other two are worth considering.
Verdict – Is Tombstone Begins Worth Playing?
The revolver system is what makes this game stand out. Every bullet changes something on the grid, and that gives each spin more weight than just sitting around waiting for the right symbols to appear. On the flip side, the frequent cold stretches can burn through your bankroll fast when the shots don't connect.
We'd recommend Tombstone Begins if you have the patience to ride out the dry spells while going after a big win, but you're not quite ready for the most brutal slots in Nolimit City's catalog.
